ELTHAM College VET studies in Hospitality and Cookery are offered through our Swipers Gully Training Restaurant, which is open to the public mornings and evenings during school term. The ELTHAM College VCE VET Hospitality program is drawn from a national training package and offers portable qualifications, which are recognised throughout Australia.
Certificate II in Hospitality (Units 1 and 2) provides students with the necessary training and skills for the achievement of competency in food and beverage service. At ELTHAM College we offer a blended delivery in the first year where students gain experience in both front of house and in-kitchen operations.
Certificate II in Cookery allows students to work in the kitchen using a limited range of food preparation and cookery skills to produce food and menus. Students work across a range of kitchen functions and activities in preparation for work in the hospitality industry.
Certificate II in Hospitality (Front of House) allows students to develop the operational skills required for the hospitality industry. Using discretion and judgement they work with some independence and under limited supervision using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities.

The VCE VET Creative and Digital Media program is drawn from a national training package and offers portable qualifications which are recognised throughout Australia. These qualifications provide students with a broad range of skills and knowledge to pursue a career or further training in the screen and media industry in areas such as film and television production, animation, radio broadcasting and photography.
Students gain skills in industry-based software programs related to audio, video, graphics and multimedia authoring and design. Students produce a variety of products that are image-based for digital reproduction.
To be awarded the Certificate III in Screen and Media, a specified number of competencies are achieved.

ELTHAM College offers both the Certificate II and Certificate III in Applied Languages (Chinese). The study of Chinese develops students’ ability to understand and use a language which is spoken by about a quarter of the world’s population. It is the major language of communication in China and Singapore and is widely used by Chinese communities throughout the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia.
Students develop from a basic to a working knowledge language standard across the two certificates, communicating orally for social purposes and in workplace contexts, and gain skills in reading and writing.
SIS30122 – Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation
VET studies in Sport and Recreation get ELTHAM students involved in a variety of sporting pursuits and recreational activities. You will get to plan, organise and facilitate sport and recreation sessions throughout your studies, developing skills in leadership, communication and organisation. Students learn how to assess and manage risk and obtain a first aid certification
The Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation is designed for students with an all-round interest in sport and fitness, are or interested in working with the sport and recreation industry, such as gymnasiums, aquatic centres, coaching, outdoor recreation and teaching.
The Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation is achieved through completion of specified competencies.
CUA30920 – Certificate III in Music – Auspiced through RTO COSAMP 41549
Experiences include making a music demo, composing simple songs or musical pieces and developing ensemble skills. VCE Units 3 and 4 offer scored assessment and include units such as developing improvisation skills, preparing for performance and performing music as part of a group or as a soloist.
VET studies in Music Performance teach ELTHAM students to explain how the Australian music industry works, promote their musical works, write song lyrics in a variety of styles and build business and management skills.
Our VET Music Performance students thrive in opportunities to perform in groups or as soloists, appearing in venues in our Yarra Valley surrounds.
The Certificate III in Music Industry (Performance) is awarded to students who have successfully completed all Units 1 to 4. Students wishing to receive an ATAR contribution for VCE VET Music must undertake scored assessment.
The Certificate III in Music Industry – Sound Production is designed for students thinking about working in the music industry in a variety of roles including sound engineer in a recording studio or live situation, audiovisual operator or as a musician developing skills to record their own music.
At ELTHAM College you aren't required to have musical experience to complete VET studies in Sound Production – this course is for students who want to develop skills in the use of the technology associated with the music industry.
Students who complete the sequence of Units 1 to 4 will gain a VCE study score as well as a Certificate III in Music Industry – Sound Production.
