TEAM GEEK – NEWBIES AND VETERANS

Team Geek – Newbies and Veterans focuses on a game that involves strategic thinking in a collaborative setting. Team Geek has two groups working at the same time – Newbies and Veterans. This is the world of Dungeons & Dragons or D&D, (as it is more commonly called), is a face to face, collaborative storytelling, role-playing game. D&D differs from most video/console games in that they use their imagination rather than being led by what a developer has written. It is a game full of social interactions and cooperative decision making. It takes place in a fantasy world where the players take on the roles of characters in an adventuring party. This fantasy world is generally thought of as medieval and the players ‘write their own story’ when they play. The players encounter all sorts of interesting characters and go on quests to generally save towns, villages, cities or even sometimes the world. There is combat in the game, but it is determined by the statistics of the characters and by the roll of a dice. Players must work together and rely on each other to solve quests and get rewards in the form of experience points.

Available for students in Year 7 – 12.
