On Saturday evening Australian prime minister Scott Morrison announced that foreign arrivals from mainland China will not be allowed entry into Australia from Saturday 1 February. This has been done as part of the measures being taken to manage the coronavirus situation. As a result of this decision there has been updated information issued by government departments for Schools and Early Childhood Centres.
We are currently aware of conflicting advice from State and Federal agencies in regards to isolation periods and those affected. In light of this we are respectfully requesting that any staff or student who has been on mainland China (excluding Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan) in the last 14 days must remain at home tomorrow, Monday 3 February. We will be contacting officials during the next 24 hours to clarify our position and confirm the best course of action.
We have been in contact with our international families directly, but ask if any other College families have travelled to mainland China in the last 14 days they alert the College immediately through the relevant Section Director:
ELC and Junior School Clair Marshall: firstname.lastname@example.org
Senior School Mark Pobjoy: email@example.com
We thank you for your ongoing support and understanding as we navigate this challenging and evolving situation. We will continue to update our community as information comes to hand.
