Victorious Start to School Sports Season
The beginning of the school year always coincides with an exciting and busy period in the school sport calendar.
In the Senior School, new seasons of the Eastern Independent Schools Melbourne (EISM) competition began for students from Years 8 – 12, with these seasons running concurrently with the highly anticipated Sporting Co-curricular offerings of the Beach Volleyball, 3 x 3 basketball tournaments, ELTHAM College gym supervision and the Elite and Emerging Athletes program.
The first term also kicked off the carnival sports seasons, including our Senior School House Athletics and both Junior and Senior School Interschool Swimming Carnivals. Year 10 student Maddy set a new school record in the Under 16 Girls 200m.
These carnivals offer a platform for students to compete in various events, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie among peers.
Both the Junior and Senior School Swimming Squads had outstanding success at their respective carnivals, with the Junior School Squad finishing second overall in their region. We had some podium finishes with our Under 10 Freestyle Boys team. Year 4 student Noah secured the opportunity to compete at State level.
The Senior Squad were the overall winners of their carnival, with the Under 13 & 14 Boys, as well as the Open Girls age group, deemed champions.
Capping off an enormous term in sport at ELTHAM College, our Senior Boys won the Gold Medal in the Volleyball Victoria Beach Schools Cup.
Congratulations to all athletes, coaches, staff and parents involved in supporting each of the squads. We eagerly anticipate the next season of EISM sport beginning in early in Term 2.
