Outdoor Education in the Junior School
Outdoor Education is a vital part of our curriculum and embodies ethos of making education a daring adventure, providing students with experiences that foster growth and development at every stage. This year, our Prep students embarked on an exciting day excursion to Healesville Sanctuary, where interactive exhibits and a very knowledgeable educator ignited their curiosity and passion for learning.
Our Year 1/2 students took part in a morning of adventure at Tree Tops, where they challenged themselves on the ropes courses. They then returned to our Nature Reserve to cook damper and enjoy hot chocolate, building a sense of community and resilience. For the Year 2 students, their first school sleepover marked a significant step toward independence, encouraging teamwork and social development in preparation for future overnight experiences.
This term, our Years 3/4 students have spent three action-packed days at Camp Manyung, participating in activities such as raft building, beach games, bush cooking, and the thrilling Flying Fox. At the end of Term 3, our Year 5/6 students ventured to Cave Hill Creek for a five-day camp, tackling challenges like canoeing, crate stacking, and bike riding. These multi-day camps build leadership, cooperation, and perseverance, while deepening their connection to the natural world.
At each stage, outdoor education enhances physical fitness, emotional resilience, and social skills, helping our students develop into confident, well-rounded individuals. These experiences create lasting memories and equip them with lifelong skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
