ELTHAM College's Year 6: Shaping Future leaders
At ELTHAM College, our mission is to develop the whole child, equipping them with the skills and values necessary for success in all areas of life. In Year 6, we place a special emphasis on preparing our students for the transition to Senior School and fostering their growing independence. Our comprehensive approach ensures that each student is ready to face the challenges ahead.
We integrate our school values into every aspect of the Year 6 experience. We set high expectations for our students, encouraging them to strive for excellence and embrace leadership roles.
Our Term 1 Year 6 Leadership Day, is a highlight of the year. It is an event run by Eleni Goulas (Director, ELC and Junior School). This day is dedicated to nurturing leadership skills and instilling a sense of responsibility in our students. Coupled with our curriculum unit on leadership, these experiences are designed to develop critical thinking, teamwork, and effective communication.
Additionally, our Year 6 students participate in two enriching camps that further enhance their personal growth. In June, our trip to Canberra provided a deep dive into Australia's history and government. Our outdoor education camp later in the year, led by Guy Mitchell, also offers an invaluable opportunity for students to build relationship skills and gain independence in a supportive and challenging environment.
These carefully curated experiences ensure that our Year 6 students are not only prepared for the academic demands of Senior School but are also equipped with the social and emotional skills necessary for lifelong success. At ELTHAM College, we are proud to develop future leaders who are ready to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
