The ELTHAM College Hospitality Training Centre recently made welcome a packed dining room of people at their annual Guest Chef evening, featuring famed chef Stephen Mercer.
This event provides numerous opportunities for our hospitality students to showcase new found skills and draw direct parallels linking learning and working. The chance for students to further expand on their skills and excel in a challenging environment is a highly valuable experience without comparison.
Our restaurant was once again transformed into a stunning venue using clever lighting techniques to create a dining experience full of ambience and warmth. Diners enjoyed a wonderful array of fine fare, from Tuna mousse and Huon smoked salmon to roasted quail breast with spiced pumpkin soup and gingered apple. All courses were matched with our Swipers Gully wines. The fact that this event sold out in record time is a true testament to the amazing support of the local community and our parent body.
All involved should be congratulated on their dedication, teamwork and attention to detail, with guest Annette Mutimer exclaiming “The food was delicious! Amazing night with a great student contribution. I would highly recommend it to anyone”.
Stephen congratulated the College for their long standing commitment to educating high achieving hospitality employees, while the college recognised our incredible good fortune to have Stephen share his talents and culinary expertise with us.
