The Arts

14th-Sept-11-(164)_2ELTHAM College, much like the suburb we are named after, is known for its art. ELTHAM offers a broad range of art subjects and facilities, from traditional art techniques and emerging digital design, through to performance and media.

The Arts 2018 Booklet

The Arts BookletWe are excited to share with you our Arts program for 2018. The booklet, which can be viewed at issuu.com/elthamcollege, encompasses our performing arts, music and visual arts events and includes dates, venues, key contacts and ticketing arrangements.

Art needs to be experienced, heard, felt and lived. The Arts are alive at ELTHAM.

We look forward to seeing you at our events throughout the year.

Visual Arts

VCE subjects include: Art, Studio Arts, Visual Communication Design, Media, Certificate III in Screen and Media (Creative Media), Certificate IV in Screen and Media and Certificate III in Furniture Making.

Students from local schools also have the opportunity to enrol in Certificate IV in Screen and Media and Certificate III in Furniture Making at the College. Please contact our team at the LifeWork Centre (lifework@elthamcollege.vic.edu.au) for more information about these classes.

Our L.E Clarke Visual Arts Building is an open collaborative space where young people can work on their portfolios in an environment conducive to mutual respect and confidence.

Digital Media is also practiced across the school from Junior to Senior levels. ELTHAM recognises the importance art has for our young people and their future, and this is just one of our ways to help them become world-ready.

Performing Arts

ELTHAM College has a strong performing arts program.

From Prep – Year 8 performing arts are a part of students’ core specialist subjects. Years 7 – 8 students can choose their performing arts module; which gives them a chance to improve their skills in their preferred area, whether that be acting, theatrical design, heightened language or improvisation.

In Years 9 – 12 students can choose to be involved in drama electives or continue further study as part of their VCE.

We also offer multiple performance opportunities across all year levels. These include House Music (Years 5 – 12), biannual Years 9 – 12 productions, an annual Years 5 – 8 performance (which alternates between a play and a musical), an annual Junior School concert, an ELC performance evening and a performance season from Unit 3 VCE Theatre Studies and Drama students.
