Simon for website

Hello, I am Simon Le Plastrier, Principal of ELTHAM College. I believe that an ELTHAM education embodies great philosophies about young people’s independence, their ability to think creatively, not just in the creative arts but across all academic disciplines. Ours is a school that allows young people to be independent thinkers.

Simon’s biography

Simon commenced as Principal in January 2014 with a desire to reinforce and consolidate ELTHAM’s strong reputation as a leader in schooling.

Up until December 2013 Simon was the Deputy Headmaster and Head of Senior School at Trinity Grammar School in Kew, An extremely energised, enthusiastic educator, Simon demonstrated exemplary leadership within and beyond his school community.  Before his appointment at Trinity Grammar, Simon was a highly regarded Deputy Principal of Ivanhoe Grammar School Plenty Campus where he established a culture of care, commitment and focus.  He was a member of the cross-campus Principal’s Senior Management team and Chair of a number of other operational committees.  He had similarly broad involvement in a range of committees at Trinity Grammar.  As Deputy Headmaster and Head of Senior School, Simon achieved major outcomes on a number of fronts: extensive policy writing, efficiently daily school organisation, a student referral system- monitoring student learning progress, behavioural development, and physical and emotional wellbeing.  In 2001, Simon produced a Drug and Alcohol Booklet which is in use all around Australia.  He was a Member of the Trinity Grammar Drug and Alcohol Parent Committee and is still a Member of the Ministry of Education Student Wellbeing and Engagement Advisory Group.

Simon has also presented at a range of conferences including the ACHPER Health and Well-Being in the Middle Years Conference (2007), the Inaugural Victoria Parents Council Symposium (2008) and the International Boys Schools Coalition 17th Annual Conference (2010).
